Day 3 (Washington, DC)

Time to depart Raleigh, NC... Washington D.C. here we come!!!

Someone couldn't handle staying awake for the ride... ZZZZZZZ.... and he was snoring!!!

Crossing the North Carolina/Virginia booarder!!!

Glad to be in the VA!!! They welcomed us with open arms....

The pentagon... You know what that means????

Nartional Mall, Capitol Hill..... We are in the nation's capital... Washington D.C.!!!

Happy to be in Washington D.C.!!! Althought it took us 30 minutes, driving in a circle to try and find out hotel... (LOL)

Our hotel is right next to the New York Ave. Metro Station... Best way to travel when in the big city like D.C. There aren't any parking lots here... not free ones anyway.

On our way to Georgetown for our 3.5 hour night bike and boat tour...
Can't go anywhere without signing our life away to Capital City Bike Tours!!!

I completely fell in love with Washington D.C. from the time we arrived... I know this tour will be amazing...

We didn't get good down the street before Nique had a problem with his bike... LOL... Our tour guide fixed it and we were back to riding in no time.

Mom and Nique on their bikes...

Me on my bike, standing in front of the first family temporary housing....

Welcome to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue... aka... The White House!!! Secret Service was everywhere and I'm pretty sure some of these tourist are undercover SS agents... (LOL)

So I thought this was pretty interesting... This lady has been protesting nuclear weapons in front of the White House since 1981... (The year my mom graduated high school) She is the only person to have access to protest in front of the White House for 18 hours a day.

The Washington Monument... Nique actually guessed exactly how tall this monument is... 555 ft. tall. Another cool fact, there is an elevator inside that use to only allow men to travel to the top. Women and children had to walk 897 steps to the top... Since the earthquake that hit D.C. not too long ago, it has been shut down indefinetly.

The World War II Memorial

Nique and I proud to stand in front of the home state!!!
"Out of the Mountain of despair, a stone of hope". Who said that?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial... Breath taking experience.

The Lincoln Memorial

A 19x19 statue of Abraham Lincoln

View of reflecting pool and National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial

The Vietnam War Wall

View of the Potamic River... I think I spelled that right...

Our wonderful tour guide, Mike!!! If you are ever in D.C make sure you go and take a bike or segway tour with Capital City Tours.
